CoWIN Portal is the digital platform to capture covid-19 vaccination program details. CoWIN connects to various stakeholders, including vaccine manufacturers, administrators, and verifiers, public and private vaccination facilities, and vaccine recipients etc. The key features of the CoWIN platform are (i) Blended registration- Beneficiaries can register online or on-site (walk-in) to Vaccination Centre. (ii) Beneficiaries can book online appointment based on convenience of time and choice of location (iii) Track Vaccination Schedule (iv) Instant Digital vaccination Certificate with certificate correction utility (v) Multilingual portal with 12 languages. (vi) Mobile application for their ease of use for vaccinator (vii) Vaccine Stock Management (viii) Publishing of Vaccine Schedules in advance (ix) Real Time Dashboards (x) tracking of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI). (xi) Digital Covid-19 vaccination Certificate tracking (xii) Facility wise coverage.
CoWIN platform was developed in a record speed with ample consideration to its scalability, modularity and interoperability. For quick scale, CoWIN has been integrated with other government mobile applications such as Aarogya Setu and UMANG. Users can access the platform via desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile phones, and can use it to meet a variety of needs. The platform has adapted quickly to the need for covering different beneficiaries group during each phases and adjusted the platform to accommodate an influx of new users even those from remote areas and/or those without access to digital tools. Registered users receive automated text messages on their registered mobile numbers regarding vaccination appointments, second dose & precaution dose reminders, and links to digital vaccination certificates.
Nine countries have sought India’s cooperation in this endeavour.
The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar stated this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
